CR3 are currently representing a growing Medium sized developer who are seeking an Assistant Accountant to work in HQ that borders Surrey/Berkshire.

The Assistant Accountant will provide support to the Head of Finance, ensuring strong financial controls and reporting. The role will include predominantly Accounts Payable tasks together with month-end closing, reporting, CIS and other statutory returns. Working closely with the Commercial Department to providing detailed and accurate reports on build costs and analysis against expected spend to date.

Duties of the Assistant Accountant:

  • Attaching the correct documentation to invoices and reconciling purchase orders to invoices received
  • Posting invoices and credit notes and ensuring they’re coded correctly in the system
  • Preparing monthly supplier statement reconciliations
  • Dealing with external and internal queries by phone and email
  • Preparing and processing supplier payments and ensuring that a senior Finance Manager has signed all payments off
  • Ensuring that all accounts payable activities comply with relevant financial policies and procedures
  • Investigating and resolving outstanding creditor items
  • Assist in the monthly closing and reporting process
  • Assist with the monthly balance sheet reconciliation process
  • Support business owners in decision making by providing timely and accurate financial information
  • Adhere to accounting policies and procedures, including a regular update and improvement process
  • Participate in the design and creation of financial reports and other financial metric reporting
  • Management of certain tax and other regulatory reporting including financial audits and yearend tax filings, as applicable, working with other members of the Finance team to coordinate efforts
  • Assist with day to day accounts such as Cashflows, VAT returns, Payroll, Budget Review, admin of monthly invoices

Assistant Accountant requirements:

  • Expert use of Sage 50
  • Strong skills in MS-Office
  • Construction Background would be an advantage
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills to effectively meet the expectations and requirements of internal departments and external clients
  • Detail focused and hands on, with a strong work and team ethic
  • Monthly running and control Accounts Payable function
